Keith Thurman - Rising Star

When was first time decided boxer?
An exhibition of an amateur boxing event at  Bel Air Elementary . The exhibition was put on by my former trainer Ben Getty. He had one of his smaller amateur school the biggest kid in school. I grabbed a sign up sheet and I’ve been boxing since I was 7 years old.

If you weren’t boxing what would you be doing?
I’ve always liked computers. Something like graphic design.

What’s been the most difficult thing that’s happened to you?
Life happens everyday.  I stay focused on the future and do not allow the past to hold me back.
I’ve always been fighting for others. I bring my family with me into the ring.
Boxing has provided me with a life. Though it may be a simple life, it’s my life.
This is my experience and this is all I got.

When people talk about Keith Thurman, what would you like to hear?
I hope to hear that I’m a young upcoming prospect that has put in the work, continues to work and that they enjoy coming out to support the boxing world in a positive manner.  I’d also like to hear that
I’m going to be a world champion because that’s what I’m fighting for.

What do you see happening in 2010?
Big things. The time has come for national exposure and definitely getting into the ranks.

What does the word, AS*I*BE mean to you?
Boxing! It’s all I need and I have faith it will carry by life and my being. I’m excited for 2010, and I’m ready for big things to happen. I’m ready to rumble.
