Tampa Fashion Goes Head To Head With Lifetime Network Show - by R. Duke
Local Tampa Bay Fashion Week designer Kimberly Hendrix of the k.hendrix brand plans to use video blogs to go head to head with the newest season of Project Runway contestants beginning July 29th at 9pm on Lifetime.
After going through the long Project Runway casting process confident she would be selected as a season 8 contestant, Kimberly Hendrix took her disappointment in stride and rather than hang her head, she decided to put together her own Project Runway season 8 competition. Kimberly has committed to taking on each weekly Project Runway challenge, recording her own design process, and posting her results versus the shows winner in her video blog for fans to vote on and compare.
Working from home without cameras following you around may make things a little easier, but Kimberly is no stranger to creating quickly under the cameras view. As a former designer on TLC’s Bikini or Bust, Kimberly had to help her friend, designer Ashley Paige, create a 28 look collection for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in just two weeks time.
Kimberly has imposed her own set of rules to keep the competition as close to the real thing as possible; same time line, same budget, and additionally Kimberly will create her own piece after watching only the initial part of the show when the challenge is given out. “It wouldn’t be fair to see what the other designers are creating or what the judges like or dislike before creating my own version of the challenge” Kimberly said.
Kimberly will begin her Project Runway 8 versus k.hendrix challenge on July 29th, but you can view Kimberly’s initial Project Runway audition video below. Kimberly is one of the designers selected to show at this year’s Fashion Week Tampa Bay in September and hopes this project will bring even more attention to the Tampa Bay Fashion scene.
